BMW X1 F48 With Worn Out Stabiliser Links
A client contacted us because their BMW X1 f48 had clunking noises near the front of the motor vehicle and also behaved erratically while cornering. We traced the fault to the front stabiliser links which were worn out.
Why Stabiliser Links Are Important?
Stabiliser links play a vital role in improving vehicle handling and shock absorption. Effectively they keep the vehicle from swaying too much while cornering which may lead to loss of control or over-correction. These bars are particularly important on South African roads because actively absorb shocks from uneven road surfaces and potholes.
The stabiliser links which connect the main bars to the wheels provide the driver with confidence when approaching a tight corner at speed.
It is necessary to carry out regular inspections on your car’s suspension and all related steering linkages. This includes checking all the link bushes to ensure they are not cracked or broken.
In this case, we replaced the worn links with new ones.
Adding stabiliser links between the main bars and the wheels refines this process of control, so cars handle “tight.”
