Mini Cooper Clutch With Destroyed Friction Plate
This Mini Cooper needed to be towed in to GP motor Works because the vehicle was undrivable.
The diagnostic test indicated a fault with the clutch. The gearbox was removed and the clutch assembly was visually inspected. The friction plate was completely destroyed to such an extent that the friction pads were non-existent. The pressure plate and flywheel were also beyond repair. The plastic pins which the fork pivots on were melted due to the excessive heat build up.
Mini Cooper Clutch Replaced
The clutch had to be “rebuilt” from scratch due to the extensive damage. This included the procurement of new parts as follows:
- Clutch kit
- Dual mass flywheel
- Slave cylinder
- Plastic pins and release bearing
The parts were installed as well as new approved brake fluid and gearbox oil. The clutch system was bled out.
The Mini was road tested and the new clutch operated well.
The client was very happy to take delivery of his Mini Cooper!
This job was very expensive because so many parts were damaged beyond repair.
